Whether you choose to operate your own salon or work in one, the first step begins with a solid education. Carolina Academy a Paul Mitchell Partner School offers a progressive learning environment, and talented learning leaders facilitate the experience by providing students with extensive hands-on and classroom training in design, cutting, coloring, multi-cultured techniques, and the science of bone structure and facial-shape adaptability. We also mentor future professionals in attitude, retailing, personal appearance and other various business development classes.
Opportunities and Options
One of the best things about a future in cosmetology is that it can start soon! Depending upon whether you go to school full time or part time, you could be ready to take your licensing exam within 9 to 18 months. Employment opportunities are on the rise. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that employment for cosmetologists will continue to grow faster than the average growth in other industries. In the new millennium, more and more people will spend their money on personal care services such as hairstyling, hair coloring, texturizing, manicures, pedicures, facials, and make-up application.
While the majority of cosmetologists work as stylists in salons, many choose careers in other areas such as make-up artist for photo / video shoots, platform artist at trade shows / conventions, educator / school owner, and artistic director for a manufacturer.
Please check with the individual Paul Mitchell School that you are interested in attending for specific program offerings.
